Salmon Leather Collection
A New Nordic Luxury Born from the Sea
Introducing to Japan for the first time:
sustainable luxury from Sweden, shaped by Nordic nature, craftsmanship, and circular design philosophy.
This collection is crafted from salmon leather created by upcycling discarded salmon skin, a material that is both beautiful and remarkably strong, transformed from what would otherwise be waste.
Infused with the spirit of the Nordic sea, artisanal skill, and circular thinking, salmon leather carries a quiet story of the ocean. With every use, that story deepens gently in your hands.
What Is Salmon Leather?
Salmon leather is gaining attention worldwide as a next-generation eco leather, valued for its lightness, strength, and refined beauty.
Despite its thin and lightweight nature, salmon leather is said to be up to nine times stronger than cow leather. Its durability comes from a unique cross-hatch fiber structure, where fibers intersect tightly resulting in a material that is surprisingly tough yet supple.
The Unique Qualities of Salmon Leather
Light yet exceptionally strong
Durability developed by salmon that survive the harsh Nordic seas.
One-of-a-kind scale pattern
A refined texture with natural depth and a subtle, silk-like sheen no two pieces are ever the same.
Beautiful aging over time
The leather deepens in character with use, becoming uniquely yours.
Sustainable by nature
Upcycled from seafood byproducts, contributing to a circular, low-waste economy.
No fish odor
Thanks to an advanced tanning process, salmon leather is completely free from any fish smell.
In Japan, salmon has long been regarded as a symbol of prosperity, protection, and success. Reviving discarded marine byproducts aligns naturally with both Nordic sustainability values and Japanese cultural sensibilities making salmon leather a material Circuliv deeply values.
Discover Nordic Luxury
For this collection, Circuliv partnered with the Stockholm-based luxury brand Kristian Eddé.
Founder and designer Daniel believes that “true luxury is not only about beauty, but about intention, innovation, and social impact.” His philosophy resonated deeply with Circuliv, inspiring us to bring this brand to Japan.

A Brand Leading Marine Innovation
Kristian Eddé participates as a specialist partner in the MAREFINE project, led by Sweden’s national research institute RISE. The project focuses on transforming previously undervalued marine side streams, such as fish skin, into high-value circular materials.
The brand also contributes to the development of advanced processing techniques that enhance water resistance and durability, while preserving flexibility and strength.
Nothing from the sea should be wasted.
Resources must be carried forward into the future.
This philosophy lies at the heart of Nordic sustainability and takes physical form in salmon leather.

For Those Who Value Substance Over Trends
All wallets and leather goods by Kristian Eddé are entirely handmade in their Stockholm workshop. Visiting the atelier reveals meticulous attention to detail from carefully explained sewing machines to the pride and dedication behind every stitch.
Every cut and stitch carries the story of the sea and the quiet beauty of the Nordics.
This is not fashion made for trends but products that embody craftsmanship, circularity, and enduring aesthetics.
Why Circuliv Brings This to Japan
Circuliv connects Nordic nature with Japanese aesthetics, proposing a way of living that values choosing fewer things, thoughtfully and cherishing them for a long time.
Our encounter with salmon leather was a natural extension of this philosophy.
