What is Nordic Salmon Leather? The Secret to its Strength and Beauty - Circular Luxury Born from the Sea

Circuliv introduces for the first time in Japan Kristian Eddé, a sustainable luxury collection brand from Sweden. It beautifully breathes life into salmon leather made from fishery by-products that would otherwise have been discarded.

The Nordic Sea, circular design, and craftsmanship. All these elements converge to redefine salmon leather as a premium material that is "beautiful, strong, and long-lasting." It is now attracting attention from highly sensitive individuals worldwide.

What is salmon leather?

An ethical material gaining attention as the next generation of genuine leather

Salmon leather is, in fact, genuine leather. It is an extremely rare ethical leather material created by upcycling salmon skin, which would otherwise be discarded after being consumed for food, and then tanning it.

Its functionality is particularly noteworthy. Salmon skin has a cross-hatch structure where fibers intertwine in a crisscross pattern, and it is said to boast up to nine times the tear strength of cowhide.

Thin, light, yet surprisingly tough. This strength is unique to salmon that have lived in the harsh nature of the North. It is truly a crystallization of Nordic rational beauty, combining "strength and beauty."

The appeal of salmon leather

Lightness, strength, beauty, and circularity

● Light yet strong The durability unique to salmon that have swum through the harsh Nordic seas.

● Unique scale pattern A three-dimensional and elegant texture created by nature, difficult to reproduce artificially.

● Beautiful aging As it is used, it gains luster and depth, developing a unique character.

● Transparent sustainability A clear and traceable circular material that repurposes fishery by-products.

● No odor concerns Advanced tanning techniques ensure there is no fishy odor whatsoever.
